Trademark Infringement by other Malaysia SEO Consultant : Don’t build your Website in Jungle

December 30th, 2009

The biggest risk of putting information and photos online is that others can easily copy and post the information or photos as theirs. The worst thing is the other sides never acknowledge the source of information or photos, and treat those as their own. The typical action of copy cats is copy-and-paste part of text from websites or blogs, and post the same in theirs.

Most of Malaysians still think that copying other’s work is okay since most of them do it since studying years. In some universities or colleges in Malaysia, copy-and-paste issue is not seen as “normal”, where else in overseas universities, it is a very serious offence and is categorized as academic deceit. Even when I was studying in university regarding intellectual property in corporate law subject, there is close to zero case about breach of intellectual property law in Malaysia.

The awareness of Intellectual Property (IP) in Malaysia is relatively very low. When we say about IP, most of us will think about Internet Protocol instead of Intellectual Property. Is it the awareness of Malaysians regarding the intellectual property is too low because of low exposure about it, or it is just the “tidak apa (literally translated as nevermind)” attitidute?

Not only that, we discover that our trademark (Don’t Build Your Website in Jungle) had been copied by two SEO companies in Malaysia. Continue reading »

Locus-T attends PayPal’s PowerUp Party

December 14th, 2009

Those who always make transactions online will not be unfamiliar to PayPal. PayPal is the faster, safer way to send money, make an online payment, receive money or set up a merchant account. PayPal provides a safe and easy way to pay without having to expose your credit cards or bank account number.

PayPal is starting to venture into Malaysia market by expanding its service and introduce MYR currency. This is indeed good news for Malaysians, as Malaysia PayPal users do not have to be concerned about the currency conversion. Furthermore, Malaysians are able to withdraw PayPal balance to local banks.

On last Friday evening (11 December 2009), PayPal had organized a PowerUp Party at Neo Restaurant and Luxe Lounge. The guests are limited to 200 persons only and hence, entry tickets to PowerUp party were claimed fast. Thanks to Paypal and to Mr. Ken, the Head of Business Development of Paypal South East Asia, Locus-T managed to get 2 passes.
