Internet service in Malaysia
A bold title in Wednesday’s newspaper today caught my attention.
“1 million wired for high-speed internetâ€
(Note: It is “high-speed”)
It seems like Malaysia government has finally hear the anguish of Malaysians on the speed of Internet connection in Malaysia. Before the birth of broadband in Malaysia, most of us will open multiple windows to load webpages. Meanwhile, when waiting for the webpages to load, we will do other things, such as make ourselves a cup of Milo, grab some cream crackers, and come back just in time to see ONLY one webpage just finished download.
Now, all of us are using broadband. But regardless of which Internet service provider any of us are using, I am sure that there are times when we complaint that ‘the line is down’.
A Malaysia free newspaper, theSun reported on 11 November 2009:-
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak said in his opening remarks at the MSC International Advisory Panel (IAP), meeting yesterday the high-speed broadband network would create a platform to develop future ICT applications, while providing the people. Business and government agencies with a competitive boost via cutting edge communications.
ICT and its development are good for us. But most of the times, our internet speed is moving in the speed of the snail.
Even at our own office, there are times when the internet is down. And when we call to enquire about the problem, the most common answers we get are “We are trying our best†and “It is because of the thunder†(especially for monsoon season at the end of the year). Many things to be blamed when Internet speed is slow. Does this happen in Malaysia only, or other countries as well? What’s your say?

Our Internet Speed is at the speed of snail. The matter is which snail (ISP) are you using? They are competing, and are we winning?
