Ong Tee Keat with Social Media

October 16th, 2009

Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat, President of Malaysia Chinese Association did a good work again. Not because of he remains his seat as the President of the Party after 10/10 EGM, but it is because he starts to fully apply social media marketing to create Online Branding! It is the way to create an online presence!

After long hours of EGM yesterday, Ong Tee Keat was bombarded with many questions from press reporters. however, he just simply answered them, “No PC (press conference) today, any responses and conclusions, please visit my blog for full view, thank you …”

It seemed to be very simple, but this simple and humble action managed to pull his traffic to at least 5000 hits within an hour! This is the power of Social Media Marketing! Not only Datuk Seri Ong Tee Keat has a blog, he also has a Facebook page. NST reported that OTK joins Facebook to invite the public to enable open communication between him and the public. A statement from his secretariat, said that Facebook would also enable him to reach a wider audience while still keeping abreast on comments, feedback and suggestions posted on his page, despite his hectic schedule.

The power of Social Media is so great that even everyone, including politicians are using these platforms to have online presence and strenghten their offline presence. Just take Barack Obama as an example. He know how to leverage the power of social media in his marketing campaign. Despite the rage of social media, some politicians just don’t get social media.

If the same is applied to your website, your business will definitely be exposed to many people, worldwide. If you do not want to be those who under utilize the potential of social media, you should let professionals to  manage your social media campaigns. With proper plan and technique in use, you can make a difference to your Online Branding, too. They did, and when is your turn?

Good work OTK and keep it on!
