Social Media Way – Facebook, Twitter

Social networking has becoming more important in our lives, some way or another. In Malaysia, many people started to use Friendster and currently moved on to Facebook and the latest social networking platform – Twitter.

What is so attractive about social networking sites? Real-time communication with simple and fun way to share messages, pictures and updates. Most people like the functionality and convenience of Facebook, where Facebook users can add friends, suggest friends to others, and post messages on their walls. Facebook also enables users to create events and group pages. Users with same interests and hobbies can group together and interact with each another. It is all about connections and relationships in Facebook. Marketers use the connections of Facebook users as a way to spread ‘word-of-mouth’.

Twitter – a microblogging sites, which is popular among young adults in Malaysia. Twitter users are able to post tweets with 140-characters per tweet, and deliver their tweets to their followers. It is a very good way to keep up with family and friends. From marketing point of view, Twitter can be seen as a tool for viral-marketing.

No matter how you use social networking sites, it is a great way to help us connected with people and things happening around us.
